The Mitutoyo 511 Series dial bore gauge is a two-point comparative gauge for measuring the inside diameter of bores, sleeves, cylinders and machined holes. The self-centring head aligns the measuring contacts across the true diameter, which reduces operator error, and the carbide contact point and anvil tips withstand repeated shop-floor use.
The gauge reads deviation rather than absolute size: it is first zeroed against a ring gauge, micrometer or setting standard at the nominal diameter, after which the dial shows how far the bore departs from that size. Each set is supplied with interchangeable anvils and washers so that one gauge covers a band of diameters instead of a single bore.
Four sets are offered. 511-711 covers 18 to 35 mm to a measuring depth of 100 mm; 511-712 covers 35 to 60 mm and 511-713 covers 50 to 150 mm, both to a depth of 150 mm; 511-721 covers the same 18 to 35 mm band as 511-711 but reads to a finer 0.001 mm graduation for close-tolerance work. Accuracy is 2 µm on all four.
When ordering, state the bore diameters to be checked, the graduation required — 0.01 mm for general inspection, 0.001 mm where the tolerance is tight — and the depth the head must reach, since the anvil set supplied is fixed to the model.
