The Mitutoyo 7010S-10 is a magnetic stand for holding dial indicators and dial test indicators during inspection. The base is V-blocked, so it seats on a round shaft or roller as securely as it does on a flat surface plate - which is the case that matters, since runout is usually checked on something cylindrical.
The magnetic steel base gives 600 N of vertical retractile force, switched on and off at the base. The arm gives a 165 mm working radius and 232 mm of measuring depth, enough to reach over most work held on a plate or in a machine. A stem bush is supplied so the stand accepts 3/8 inch, 4 mm and 8 mm indicator stems.
Typical work is runout checking on shafts, rollers and rotating components, machine alignment and setup, surface plate inspection, and general gauge positioning on the shop floor. The stand carries the instrument; the reading is only as steady as the base, so the magnet should be switched on against clean, unpainted steel.
When ordering, confirm the stem diameter of the indicator to be mounted and that the base type suits the surface. Supplied with the stem bush in a carton box.
