Victaulic

Victaulic, of Easton, Pennsylvania, invented the grooved mechanical pipe joint in 1919 and remains the reference for it. The coupling clamps two housings over a gasket seated in the groove rolled or cut into the pipe ends: the joint is made with two bolts, without welding, hot work or a flame permit, and it can be taken apart for service. What is listed here is the QuickVic Style 107V installation-ready rigid coupling, which arrives assembled and is pushed onto the pipe rather than dismantled first; Victaulic publishes it for 2 to 12 inch (DN50 to DN300) roll-grooved and cut-grooved steel pipe. A rigid coupling holds the joint against angular movement, so where a line has to absorb expansion or deflection a flexible coupling is the correct choice instead.
