The Mitutoyo 547-301A is a bench thickness gauge for flat, flexible material. The workpiece is placed between a fixed anvil and a spring-loaded contact, and the ABSOLUTE Digimatic scale shows the thickness on an LCD immediately after switch-on, with no origin setting to repeat.
Both contacts are ceramic discs, which resist wear and mark soft material less than steel faces, and the throat allows the contact point to be reached up to 30 mm in from the edge of the sheet. Resolution is 0.01 mm over a 0 to 10 mm range with ±20 µm accuracy, and the frame is rated IP42 for ordinary shop-floor handling.
Typical work is incoming and in-process checking of film, paper, foil, plastic sheet and gasket material. Digimatic output allows readings to be sent to a compatible data collector or printer, so inspection results can be logged rather than transcribed. The gauge runs on a CR2032 battery.
