Description

A misting line is built from a run of tube broken by fittings that either change its direction or provide a port for a nozzle. The items photographed cover both jobs: straight unions and elbows and a tee for the tube itself, and in-line bodies drilled and threaded on the side to take a nozzle, so the nozzle sits in the line rather than on a separate branch.

The tube ends are push-fit. The tube is pushed into the fitting where an internal grab ring and O-ring hold and seal it, which is what lets a long run with many nozzles be assembled without tools and altered afterwards by cutting the tube and adding a fitting. The nozzle port is threaded, and the nozzle's own O-ring seals against the seat inside it.

Fittings, tube and nozzles must belong to the same pressure class and the same size. A high pressure fitting will accept low pressure tube and appear to hold, then release it when the pump comes up to pressure. Push-fit fittings also depend on a clean square cut on the tube; a ragged or angled cut is the commonest cause of a weeping joint.

When ordering, state the tube outside diameter the fitting has to take, the fitting pattern needed (union, elbow, tee, nozzle body, end plug), the nozzle port thread, the body material, and the working pressure of the system. Nothing here is standardised between suppliers, so mixing brands within one run is a false economy.
