Hydraulic 10,000 PSI Quick Couplings

DNP

DNP 700 bar Hydraulic Quick Coupling (10,000 psi Class)

High-pressure quick couplings for the 700 bar / 10,000 psi hydraulic tool class - cylinders, jacks, torque wrenches and hand pumps. No ISO interface covers this class, so coupler and nipple must be a matched pair from one maker.

Description

These are the couplings used on 700 bar hydraulic tool circuits: single-acting cylinders, jacks, bolt tensioners, torque wrenches and the hand and air pumps that drive them. They are a different class of product from the 250 to 400 bar couplings used on machine hydraulics, and they are built with heavier walls and smaller bores.

The honest fact about this class is that no ISO interface covers it. ISO 7241 Table 4 tops out at 315 bar, and ISO 16028 covers 10 MPa to 31,5 MPa. FASTER, whose catalogue is public, rates its FFHP flat-face series at 72 MPa - about 10,440 psi - and lists its series interchange as MARKET, that is, market convention rather than any ISO series; the same is true of its 100 MPa UHP series. There is therefore no standard to quote and no cross-brand interchange to rely on. Coupler and nipple must be bought as a matched pair from one source, and a replacement half must match the original profile.

Trapped pressure is the other practical point. A quick coupling of any type becomes hard or impossible to connect by hand once there is residual pressure behind the valve - on ISO 7241 Series A couplings, ISO 7241-1 Table 5 shows half a bar is enough at the largest size. On a 700 bar tool circuit the line must be vented at the pump before an attempt to connect.

State at order: the coupling profile or the tool it must serve, port thread, and whether a dust cap or a screw-to-connect sleeve is required.

Specifications

Pressure Class 10,000 psi (approximately 690 bar), as designated in the product name
Interface Standard None. ISO 7241 Table 4 tops out at 315 bar and ISO 16028 covers 10 to 31,5 MPa, so neither applies at this class. FASTER lists the series interchange of its 72 MPa FFHP range as MARKET - market convention, not an ISO series
Interchange By manufacturer profile — there is no interchange standard in this class, so the coupler and nipple must be a matched DNP pair. DNP is D.N.P. Industriale S.r.l. of Brugherio, Italy. Give the series and body size when ordering.
Port Thread NPTF is the usual port thread in this class - FASTER offers its 72 MPa FFHP series in 1/4 and 3/8 inch NPTF. Confirm the thread of both halves before ordering
Construction Plated steel couplers and nipples with knurled locking sleeves; the photographed set includes a coupler with a threaded (screw-to-connect) sleeve and a male-threaded nipple
Connection Under Pressure Vent the line at the pump before connecting. Residual pressure behind the valve makes a quick coupling hard or impossible to connect by hand - on ISO 7241 Series A couplings, ISO 7241-1 Table 5 gives 0,5 bar as the limit at the largest size
