The Mitutoyo THG/0.05-1 is a thickness feeler gauge set of 28 leaves covering 0.05 to 1.0 mm. Each leaf is 150 mm long, hardened and tempered tool steel, marked with its thickness, and removable from the holder so that a single leaf or a stack can be used and the remainder folded away.
Clearance is measured by selecting the leaf that enters the gap with light drag; that drag, not the fit, is the reading. Leaves in the 0.05 to 0.15 mm group are held to ±0.005 mm. Because thin leaves take a permanent set if forced, the set should be checked for kinks before a leaf is trusted on a critical clearance.
Typical work is gap and clearance checking in mechanical maintenance, machine setup, shim selection and alignment, and inspection on automotive, pump and valve assemblies. Supplied with operating instructions in a case.
