Description
A rupture disc is a non-reclosing overpressure protection device. The disc is clamped in a holder in the pressure line and is manufactured to fail at a defined burst pressure, venting the system before a pressure spike damages the pump, hoses, fittings or accessories connected to it. Once it has burst it is replaced, not reset.
Advanced Pressure Systems supplies these discs in three preset burst ratings: 10,000 psi and 14,800 psi in the 1/2" STD style with a 0.875" outside diameter, and 20,000 psi in the 1/4" A/S style. The 1/2" STD discs are fitted to APS-style 15K rupture disc holders; the 1/4" A/S disc is fitted to APS 20K holders that take that disc style.
The discs are used in high-pressure water blasting and water jetting systems, on positive displacement pump circuits and upstream of nozzles and hoses.
When ordering, state the burst pressure and the disc style, and confirm the holder the disc is to be fitted into. A disc of the wrong style or rating will not seat correctly and defeats the protection it is fitted to provide. Discs are consumable items and are normally held alongside the holder assembly.
