RIV 250 Brass Pressure Relief Valve, Hose Connection

The RIV 250 is the hose-connection version of RIV's Opale pressure relief valve. It works the same way as the free-discharge RIV 230 - a calibrated spring holds a disc on its seat until tank pressure lifts it - but instead of venting through open windows it discharges through a side socket, so a hose can be run from the valve and the relieved product piped away from the operator and back to the tank or to a safe point.

That is the reason to choose it. On a slurry tanker the medium being relieved is not clean air; discharging it into the open at the top of the barrel puts it wherever the wind takes it. Routing the relief through a hose keeps the discharge controlled without changing the protective function.

The item in the catalogue photograph is unambiguous about its origin: the RIV logo and the words Made in Italy are cast into the body, with 2 in cast on the shoulder. RIV also lists RIV 251, the same valve with an NPT thread, and RIV 90250, a calibrated and sealed version for duties where the set pressure must be fixed and sealed against adjustment.

When ordering, state the size, the thread form of the male connection, the set pressure required and the hose size to be run from the outlet.
