Description

Both valves regulate flow with a tapered needle driven into a small seat, so the handle gives fine, progressive control rather than quick shut-off. They are used for throttling, sampling, bleeding and isolating gauges, transmitters and small hydraulic and pneumatic lines.

The angle pattern turns the flow through 90° inside the body: the male thread underneath goes into the vessel, manifold or gauge port and the female outlet faces sideways, which saves an elbow and shortens the tapping. The tube type is an inline body with a compression nut and ferrules at each end, so a length of drawn tube is pushed in and the nut is tightened; nothing is threaded into the tube itself and the joint can be broken and remade.

When ordering an angle valve, state the port size and the thread form - NPT to ASME B1.20.1 is a 60° form and BSPT to ISO 7-1 a 55° Whitworth form, both tapered 1:16, so one will start into the other and then leak; the form has to be named, not assumed. When ordering the tube type, state the tube outside diameter and wall thickness, since the ferrules grip the tube outside diameter. Confirm the working pressure required for the size, as no rating is marked on the items shown.
