Description

A stainless steel gate valve does the same job as the brass pattern - full-bore isolation with low pressure loss - where the fluid, the washdown regime or the ambient conditions rule out copper alloy. The wedge and seats are in the same material family as the body, so there is no galvanic pair inside the valve.

Steel gate valves, stainless included, are covered by EN 1984. It covers cast, wrought and fabricated bodies with flanged, butt welding, socket welding or threaded ends, and it limits socket weld and threaded end valves to DN 8 to DN 65 at PN 10 to PN 100 or Class 600 and Class 800. The pressure a valve may hold at temperature is not a single figure: for Class designated valves it comes from the tables of ASME B16.34 for the applicable material group, which is why the cast grade has to be part of the order.

State at order: nominal size, pressure designation, cast grade, thread form, and whether a rising or non-rising stem is required. As with any threaded valve, BSPP, BSPT and NPT are three different thread forms and will not seal against one another.
