Description
This is a compact solenoid valve with a stainless steel body and a coil that takes a DIN-style plug connector. Valves of this size class are normally direct acting - the coil moves the seat itself - which means they open and close against no differential pressure at all and can be used on dead-end lines, dosing skids, instrument air and small water feeds where a diaphragm valve would not shift.
Stainless steel rather than brass is specified for two reasons: the medium attacks copper alloys, or the installation is a food, pharmaceutical or demineralised-water duty where brass is not acceptable. It is worth confirming which grade is meant, since 304 and 316 are not equivalent in chloride service, and Kuwait's coastal atmosphere and brackish supplies are exactly where the difference shows.
Direct acting construction trades flow for pressure. Because the coil has to move the seat against line pressure, a small orifice can hold a high pressure while a larger orifice in the same body cannot, and the maximum pressure falls sharply as the orifice grows. Do not size one of these from bore alone; work from the flow needed at the pressure actually available.
When ordering, state the port size and thread form, the orifice, the maximum working pressure and differential at the valve, the medium and its temperature, the seal material, whether the valve must be normally closed or normally open, and the coil voltage and frequency.
