Description
The four bolt interlocking clamp is the heaviest of the bolt clamps. Four bolts spread the load along the clamp, and the interlocking form is designed to work with a collared hose stem: the clamp fingers close over the collar on the stem so that the assembly resists blow-out, rather than relying on friction on the hose cover alone. That is why the pattern is standard on air and steam hose fitted with ground joint couplings.
Like every bolt clamp it is selected by hose outside diameter, in narrow bands. The clamp photographed carries both numbers cast into it: 2 inch, the hose bore it is intended for, and 2-1/2 to 2-3/4, the outside diameter band it closes over. Both matter, because two hoses of the same bore can differ by several millimetres in cover thickness.
State at order: hose bore, hose outside diameter measured over the cover, and whether the stem carries a collar for the clamp fingers to engage. No ISO or DIN standard was found for the interlocking pattern - the European equivalent for hose-tail retention is the EN 14420-3 safety clamp, a different design.
