A wall-mounted leak detector carrying the GECA maker's mark. A catalytic sensor draws room air and the unit raises an optical and acoustic alarm when the concentration in the room passes the alarm threshold. The front panel carries three indications: a green LINE lamp showing the unit is powered, a yellow FAULT lamp showing the sensor has failed, and a red ALARM lamp for an alarm.
The alarm relay is intended to drive a normally open solenoid safety valve on the monitored line, so that a leak both sounds the alarm and shuts the supply. The valve must be fitted on the pipework outside the room being monitored, because a valve inside the room gives no protection against a leak upstream of it.
GECA builds its detectors in two versions, one for a medium lighter than air and one for a medium heavier than air. They are not interchangeable, and the mounting height is opposite: the heavier-than-air version is mounted low, because the medium collects near the floor, while the lighter-than-air version is mounted high. State the medium when ordering, and state whether the unit is to be wired to a normally open or a normally closed valve.
