Description
The GE2 is Gemels' two-way high pressure hydraulic ball valve. The body is a machined block rather than a casting. The valve is full bore as standard — Gemels lists reduced bore only as an option on request — so it adds very little pressure drop to a circuit, and it is operated by a quarter turn on a zinc handle.
Sizes run DN 6 to DN 25. Rated pressure depends on both size and end connection and runs from PN 350 to PN 500 — 35 to 50 MPa, or 5,075 to 7,250 psi. In the BSP range, for example, Gemels rates G 1/4, G 3/8 and G 1/2 at 50 MPa, G 3/4 and G 1 at 42 MPa, and the G 1 1/4 R and G 1 1/2 R sizes at 35 MPa. Body, adapters, ball and stem are carbon steel 1.0737 or stainless steel 1.4404; the carbon steel version is galvanised.
Ball seats are POM as standard, with PEEK, PA612, GEMPTFE and PTFE available on request; seals are NBR O-rings as standard, with FKM, EPDM and MVQ on request. The temperature range is -20 to +100 °C in carbon steel and -30 to +100 °C in stainless steel. End connections are offered in five thread families: DIN/ISO 228 BSP, ASME B1.20.1 NPT, SAE J1926-1, and DIN 2353 heavy (S) and light (L) series. An ISO 5211 actuator mounting pad is optional — F03 on DN 6 to DN 13 and F05 on DN 20 to DN 25.
Order by the full Gemels code: series, end connection and thread size, DN, the material digits for body, adapter, stem and ball, then the seat and seal letters — for example GE2 G1/2 DN13 1111AB. Gemels also lists reduced bore, special threads, pneumatic and electric actuators, a security block and a locking device as available on request.
