Description

Ducting hose moves air, dust, chips and fumes at low pressure and under suction. The wall is deliberately thin so that the duct stays light and compresses for storage, and a helix - steel wire, copper-plated wire or a rigid PVC profile - holds the bore open against the negative pressure a fan or extractor develops. Ducting is specified by bore, coil length and the compression ratio required, not by pressure.

Three constructions are offered here. Clear PVC with a copper-coloured steel helix is used on extraction arms and dust collection lines where the flow needs to be visible and a blockage found quickly. Grey PVC with a rigid helix is the general fume and ventilation duct. Light grey flexible PVC duct is the lightest of the three and is used for air handling and portable ventilation, including cooling and drying set-ups.

No public ISO or EN grade covers general-purpose PVC ducting, and no supplier data sheet has been obtained for this item, so no vacuum, temperature or abrasion figure is stated here; take those from the maker's own size table. Where the extracted medium is hot, solvent-laden or potentially explosive, confirm the duct material and whether an earthed or antistatic helix is required - a plain PVC duct carrying dry dust will build a static charge.
