Description

This is the single-plate member of the wafer check family: one disc, hinged at the top of the body, swinging clear of the seat on forward flow and returning onto it when flow stops. It gives a lower pressure drop than a dual plate valve of the same bore because there is no central hinge column in the flow, at the cost of a longer closing stroke.

The valve photographed is stainless throughout with a resilient seat ring fitted around the seating face — the elastomer is not marked, so NBR, EPDM or FKM should be specified to suit the medium and temperature. The disc is cast DN80, which is the nominal bore of the unit shown and not a part number. A lifting eye is fitted to the body.

API 594 covers this type as a Type A short face-to-face wafer check with a single plate. As with any wafer valve, it is centred on the flange bolts and clamped between two flange faces, so the flange standard and rating are part of the order: ASME B16.5 Class 150/300 and EN 1092-1 PN 10/16/25/40 are drilled differently. Install horizontally or in a vertical riser with the flow upwards, and check the arrow or the hinge position before bolting up.
