Description
A diaphragm seal system separates the pressure instrument from the medium. A stainless steel diaphragm takes the process pressure and transmits it to the Bourdon tube through a system fill fluid, so that adhesive, crystallising, corrosive, highly viscous or hazardous media never reach the measuring element. The DSS22 series applies that principle in a hygienic design with a clamp connection.
Both variants are built on a Bourdon tube pressure gauge to EN 837-1 welded to the diaphragm seal, at nominal size 100 mm and accuracy class 1.0. The wetted diaphragm is stainless steel 1.4435 (316L) and the system fill fluid is medicinal white mineral oil KN 92, compliant with FDA 21 CFR 172.878 and 21 CFR 178.3620(a) and with USP, EP and JP. The all-welded construction gives a long service life and permanent sealing, and the clamp connection lets the assembly be removed quickly for cleaning and seal replacement.
The difference between the two is the target industry and the finish. DSS22F is the food and beverage instrument, with a wetted surface roughness of Ra <= 0.76 um to ASME BPE SF3 and a scale range of 0 ... 0.6 to 0 ... 25 bar. DSS22P is the pharmaceutical instrument: electropolished, Ra <= 0.38 um to ASME BPE SF4, scale range 0 ... 6 to 0 ... 25 bar, and zero point setting through the window with a hexagon key without dismounting the gauge.
Both are rated for medium temperatures of 10 to 80 °C and for CIP and SIP to a maximum of 130 °C, with IP65 ingress protection. When ordering, specify the variant, scale range, clamp size and the pipe standard the clamp must match - DIN 11866 row C or ASME BPE, DIN 11866 row B or ISO 1127 row 1, or BS 4825 part 1.
