Description
The WIKA model DSS22T is a pressure sensor welded to a diaphragm seal, for hygienic pressure measurement in the food and beverage industry. A stainless steel diaphragm separates the instrument from the medium and the pressure is transmitted through the system fill fluid, so the sensor itself never contacts the product. It suits media, compressed air and vapour as well as liquid, pasty, powdery and crystallising media.
Gauge ranges are 0…1 to 0…25 bar [0…15 to 0…300 psi], with vacuum and compound ranges -1…+5, -1…+9 and -1…+10 bar. Output is 4…20 mA two-wire on a DC 8…35 V supply, with accuracy at reference conditions of ≤ ±0.5 % of span. Pressure limitation is three times the range below 10 bar and twice the range at and above 10 bar.
The wetted diaphragm and diaphragm seal are stainless steel 1.4435 [316L], the case is 1.4571 [316Ti], and the wetted surface roughness is Ra ≤ 0.76 µm [30 µin] per ASME BPE SF4 except at the weld seam. Wetted parts are supplied oil and grease free per ASTM G93-03 level F (< 1,000 mg/m²), and the system fill fluid is medicinal white mineral oil KN 92 conforming to FDA 21 CFR 172.878 and 21 CFR 178.3620(a) and to USP, EP and JP. WIKA lists an EHEDG hygienic-design approval for this model.
The clamp connection opens quickly for cleaning and seal replacement, and the all-welded construction meets the requirements of CIP and SIP: permissible medium temperature is 10…80 °C, rising to a maximum of 130 °C for cleaning and sterilisation in place. When ordering, state the scale range, the clamp standard and pipe dimension, and any required certificates.
