The WIKA model IS-3 is an intrinsically safe pressure transmitter for measuring points in hazardous areas. Ignition protection is Ex ia, with Equipment Protection Levels Ga, Da and Ma, and the data sheet lists ATEX, IECEx, FM, CSA, EACEx and NEPSI approvals. It is used in chemical and petrochemical plant, hydrocarbon processing, compressors and machine building.
Gauge ranges run from 0…0.1 bar to 0…6,000 bar, the top range given by WIKA as 87,000 psi; the separate psi range table runs from 0…3 to 0…15,000 psi. Output is 4…20 mA two-wire with a DC 10…30 V supply (DC 11…30 V for the field-case version). Non-linearity is ≤ ±0.2 % of span (BFSL per IEC 61298-2), long-term stability is ≤ ±0.2 % of span per year, and settling time is ≤ 2 ms. The instrument is vacuum resistant.
Wetted materials are 316Ti, 316L or S13800 depending on the measuring range and permissible temperature range, with the pressure transmission medium a synthetic oil below 25 bar and a dry measuring cell at and above 25 bar. With a G¼B, G½B, ½ NPT or R¼ connection the medium temperature reaches +200 °C [+392 °F] at a 400 bar maximum range, as does G¼A with an FKM/FPM seal; the ¼ NPT connection is limited to -20…+80 °C, and the flush process connections to +150 °C. Female threads with a sealing cone (M16 × 1.5, M20 × 1.5, 9/16-18 UNF) carry the highest ranges to 6,000 bar.
When ordering, state the measuring range, the ignition protection type and required approval scheme, the equipment protection level, the process connection, and the electrical connection — which sets ingress protection at IP65, IP67, IP68 or IP69K.
