Description
The WIKA PG43SA is a flush diaphragm pressure gauge for sanitary service in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and food and beverage industries. Its measuring element is a diaphragm element welded directly to the process connection, in NiCr alloy 2.4668 (Inconel 718). Pressure is transmitted purely mechanically through a link to the movement.
That dry construction is the point of the design. Because there is no system fill fluid, a diaphragm failure cannot contaminate product with transmission liquid - which is precisely why this instrument should not be described as a diaphragm seal gauge. The process connection is stainless steel 1.4435 (316L) and the case is electropolished 1.4301 (304).
Version is to EN 837-3 at nominal size 100 mm and accuracy class 1.6, with scale ranges of 0 ... 1.6 to 0 ... 16 bar and compound ranges from -1 ... +0.6 to -1 ... +15 bar, also available in psi, kPa and MPa. Overload safety is 2 or 5 times full scale, up to 40 bar or the pressure rating of the connection. Surface roughness is Ra <= 0.76 um to ASME BPE SF3, with Ra <= 0.38 um and electropolished SF4 options.
Two variants are offered. PG43SA-S is the standard instrument. PG43SA-D adds patented diaphragm element monitoring: a dot on the dial turns red the moment the element ruptures, and a second barrier keeps process and environment separated - PM 04.17 states that it conforms to the 3-A Sanitary Standard and is certified to EHEDG. When ordering, specify the variant, scale range, aseptic process connection (clamp to DIN 32676 / BS 4825-3, DIN 11864 aseptic, DIN 11851 milk thread, VARINLINE, NEUMO BioControl or Svensk Standard), surface finish, and whether the autoclavable or vent-valve version is required.
