This is a diaphragm seal system rather than a single instrument: a WIKA model 990.30 sanitary diaphragm seal with a PGT23 intelliGAUGE mounted directly on it. WIKA developed the 990.30 specifically for homogeniser machines - for milk, beverages, cosmetics and pharmaceutical preparations, and for machines producing emulsions.
The seal has a flush, all-welded diaphragm with or without a retainer flange, and is rated by WIKA for the highest dynamic pressures, up to 2,500 bar. Standard measuring ranges are 0 ... 160, 250, 400 and 600 bar, with 0 ... 1,000, 1,600 and 2,500 bar as options and psi scales from 0 ... 2,000 to 0 ... 20,000 psi. Wetted parts are stainless steel 1.4435 (316L) with a 1.4435 upper body for a maximum permissible process pressure up to PN 600, and 1.4571 (316Ti) with a 1.4542 upper body above PN 600.
The system fill fluid is KN 92 as standard, or KN 7 as an option, both FDA and USP conforming. Wetted parts are supplied oil and grease free to ASTM G93-03 level F as WIKA standard, with cleaner ASTM G93-03 level D or C to ISO 15001 available. Surface roughness is Ra <= 0.76 um, or Ra <= 0.38 um with 1.4435.
The gauge half of the assembly gives local mechanical indication that survives loss of supply, plus a 4 ... 20 mA output signal for the control system. Permissible medium temperature for the seal is 10 to 100 °C, ambient 10 to 40 °C, with CIP and SIP to a maximum of 130 °C. When ordering, state the homogeniser connection required, the measuring range, the fill fluid and the cleanliness level, since the seal is configured to the machine.
