Wingnut Coupling

Wing Nut Wet-Line Hydraulic Quick Coupling

Description

A wing nut coupling is a screw-together quick coupler for hydraulic lines. The female half carries a wing nut on a sleeve; the male nipple is offered up and the nut is turned by hand to draw the two together and compress the seal. Unlike a push-to-connect coupler it can be made and broken against residual line pressure with very little fluid loss, which is why it is the standard fitting on truck wet-line systems.

Summit Hydraulics publishes this pattern in 3/4, 1, 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 inch NPT, with a brass coupler body and nipple, a heavy-duty steel sleeve and wing nut, a nitrile seal with a PTFE back-up ring, 3,000 psi working pressure and 55 GPM nominal flow at 1 inch. The applications listed are dump trailers, live-bottom trailers, mobile drilling rigs, sand and salt spreaders, oil-well equipment and heavy plant.

The stock listed here is not branded, so those figures describe the pattern rather than a verified rating for the item supplied. Confirm the maker pressure rating before specifying the coupling into a circuit, and remember that a wing nut coupler is only as good as the nipple it is mated to - halves from different ranges may screw together without sealing.

When ordering, state the port size and thread form, whether coupler halves, nipple halves or complete sets are required, and the seal compound needed for the fluid in use.
