Description

Steam hose carries saturated steam for hose stations, line and tank cleaning, jacket heating and process steam-out. The tube and cover are EPDM, which resists steam and the condensate that forms as a line cools; the cover on the steel wire reinforced grades is pin-pricked so that steam permeating the tube escapes instead of blistering the cover, and it is left plain rather than striped so that the embossed marking stays readable.

IVG Colbachini publishes two duties. Victoria is the steel wire reinforced 18 bar hose, -40 to +210 °C, 10 to 76 mm bore, with a burst pressure of 180 bar at every size - a 10:1 safety factor rather than the 4:1 usual on hydraulic hose - and a maximum continuous length of 120 m up to 32 mm bore and 60 m above it. Manitoba is the softwall version reinforced with high-strength synthetic cord, 6 bar, -40 to +165 °C, 5 to 51 mm bore, burst 60 bar, also at 10:1.

Certified variants exist for both and are separate products with narrower size ranges: Manitoba EN ISO 6134 (type 1, class A), Victoria EN ISO 6134 (type 2, class A, electrically conductive) and Vapofer EN 6134 (EN ISO 6134:2005 type 2, class B, electrically conductive) whose cover additionally resists oils. Victoria LL adds a helix wire and a reduced bending radius.

The manufacturer states that Victoria will take peaks of superheated steam at 230 °C and 18 bar, warns that superheated steam shortens hose life, does not recommend the hose for steam cleaners, and advises draining after use for longer life. When ordering, state the steam pressure and temperature at the hose, the bore, the length, the coupling pattern, and whether an EN ISO 6134 certified hose is required.
