Valves

The valve section, grouped by type: ball, gate, butterfly, check, foot, needle and angle gauge valves, solenoid valves, and safety, pressure and vacuum relief valves. Start from duty — isolation, throttling, non-return or protection — because a valve worked outside its duty wears out or leaks: a gate valve left part-open erodes its seat, and a ball valve is an isolating valve, not a control valve. After that comes body and trim material in brass, bronze, carbon steel or stainless, the end connection (threaded, socket weld, flanged, wafer or lug), the pressure class and the medium and its temperature.
